The NHL has named the three stars for the month of December

Why It Matters

The first star is Edmonton Oilers centre Connor McDavid. McDavid lead the NHL with 34 points in 15 games which is tied with former Pittsburgh Penguins centre Mario Lemieux in December 1995 for the most in a calendar month. The second star is Colorado Avalanche centre Nathan MacKinnon. MacKinnon finished second in points with 26 in 14 games to power the Avalanche to first place in the entire league. The third star is San Jose Sharks centre Macklin Celebrini. Celebrini had 25 points in 14 games to propel the Sharks into a wild card spot in the Western Conference.
