Why It Matters
Shelton is fired with the Pirates in last place in the NL Central. Bench Coach Don Kelly has been named as the acting Manager. This comes with the Pirates on a seven game losing skid. Kelly is from Pittsburgh and has been on the Pirates Coaching Staff since 2020. The Pirates have not made the playoffs since 2015.
