Why It Matters

The Blue Jays have traded Varsho to the Houston Astros for pitcher Spencer Arighetti and cash. Varsho was set to become an unrestricted free agent after the season. Varsho has ben a stalwart fro the Blue Jays winning a gold glove award in 2024 and helping the Blue Jays get to game 7 of the World Series in 2025. Varsho was traded from the Arizona Diamondbacks to the Blue Jays in 2023. Arighetti is set to be property of the Blue Jays through the 2029 season.
