Edmonton Oilers centre Leon Draisaitl has been named as the captain of Team Germany in the winter olympics

Draisaitl is an alternate captain for the Edmonton Oilers and has the most points of any German player in NHL history with 1,036. Draisaitl’s NHL body of work includes the 2019-20 season where he won the Art Ross Trophy for leading the league in points, the Hart Trophy as NHL MVP and the Ted Lindsay as the NHL MVP as voted on by the players. Ottawa Senators centre Timothy Stutzle and Detroit Red Wings defenseman Moritz Seider have been named as alternate captains for Team Germany.
