Legendary Montreal Canadiens Goalie Ken Dryden has died at the age of 78

Why It Matters
Dryden was a Hall of Fame goalie who won six Stanley Cups as the Habs starting goalie. Dryden has written books worked as a TV hockey analyst in various capacities and served as a Liberal Party Member of Canadian Parliament. Dryden was drafted by the Boston Bruins and traded to the Habs shortly thereafter. Dryden went to and graduated Cornell University before embarking on his NHL career. Dryden won the Vezina Trophy as the top goalie five times during his NHL career. Dryden did colour for Men’s Hockey at the 1980 Winter Olympics in lake placid which included calling the miracle on ice alongside play by play man Al Michaels. Dryden served as Federal Minster of Social Development under the Prime Minister Paul Martin from 2004 to 2006.
