The Chicago Blackhawks have signed centre Connor Bedard to a five year 75 million dollar contract extension

Why It Matters

The contract was finalized ten days after Bedard had undergone shoulder surgery that will take him out o the start of the regular season. Bedard was drafted first overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2023 and won the Calder Trophy that year as the rookie of the year. Bedard had 75 points in 69 games last season. Bedard is widely speculated as the Blackhawks next captain.
