The Montreal Canadiens have signed defenseman Lane Hutson to an eight year contract extension

Why It Matters

Hutson had 66 points in 82 games for the Habs last season which made him the first rookie defenseman to lead his rookie class in points since 2019-20. Hutson who was the first Hab since recently deceased goalie Ken Dryden to win the calder trophy for rookie of the year was drafted in the second round 62nd overall by the Habs in 2022.
