The New York Yankees torpedo bats have propelled them to a record breaking start
Why It Matters
The Yankees have ben using torpedo shaped bats to produce league leading offensive numbers. The Yankees have 36 home runs and an MLB high 22 more than their opponents. This includes a team record nine home runs in the win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday. The new shape of the bats does not violate MLB rules as bats are required to be one piece of solid wood a smooth round stick with 2.61 inch diameter at the thickest part and a maximum of 42 inches in length.
