Vancouver Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko will miss the rest of the season with hip surgery

Why It Matters

Demko has not played since the Canucks loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on January 10. Demko is 8-10-1 with a .897 save percentage in his 20 games this season. Kevin Lankinen who has been named to Team Finland as the starting goalie for the Olympics in Milan will be the primary starting goalie the rest of the way with Nikita Tolopilo and Jiri Patera as backups. Demko has already signed a three year contract extension with the Canucks that takes effect next season.
