Why It Matters
Bouchard was set to become a restricted free agent. Bouchard was drafted 10th overall by the Oilers in 2018 and had 67 points in the last regular season before 23 points in 22 playoffs games in the Oilers second consecutive run to the Stanley Cup Finals. Bouchard is now the NHL’s fourth highest paid defenseman behind Pittsburgh Penguins Erik Karlsson, Los Angeles Kings Drew Doughty and Buffalo Sabres Rasmus Dahlin.
