Why It Matters

The Chiefs have asked for an extension of an end of June deadline for a stadium financing package from the state of Kansas which is a sign of the potential for the Chiefs to move across state borders from Missouri to Kansas. The Chiefs asked for an extension in a letter to Kansas senate president Ty Masterson on the grounds that the Chiefs need more time to bring the effort to fruition. The Chiefs lease with Arrowhead Stadium expires in 2031.
